Sometimes

Sometimes life sucks.  Sometimes the things you want so badly don’t happen.

Sometimes families fall apart.  Sometimes tears happen and pain is so bad it can’t be changed.

Sometimes I want to run and hide.

Sometimes hope happens.

Sometimes the thing we have wanted for years comes true

Sometimes… sisters get pregnant :)

Sometimes little sisters get really excited!

Isaac

This little guy is adorable.

i1

His mom wanted some pictures to celebrate his turning 1.

i8

pictures not dominated by his big sisters, so we waited until they were in school.

i14

Apparently he spent the first year of his life either dealing with colic or terrified of strangers. We didn’t have that problem.

i11

He, like all the littles I have taken pictures of this summer, found things to amuse himself in the world around him.

i23

Unlike the rest of them, however, this one lost interest in me  quickly.  I took 177 pics in 22 minutes.  Fortunately I loved them all.

i3

I think I am getting better.  My pictures are coming out more consistently better, my editing is cleaner.

i5

I need to work at entertaining the kiddos, but overall?  I like.

The End.

Summertime!

I got an e-mail from one of the moms in my mom’s mops group (make sense? my mom is the older mother mentor for the mops group at church…) who wanted some summertime pictures of her children.  I was excited, falls right into my plan of taking more people pictures, so off to the park we went.  The mom told me I would be her hero if I could get a decent picture with all 3 of them looking at the camera, and out of the 400 pictures I took, picture number 8 was this:

Not to bad, right?  The rest of them went something like this:

Not a lot of looking at me going on!

Someday I am going to look at my photography and see professional quality (maybe…).  But for today, I am happy that I definitely see progress.  Progress is good!

Of course, there are always my favorite pictures, the ones less posed and more kids being kids…

It was a fun summer day!  Or morning, we got done at 10am and it was already 90 degrees out!

Katlyn and Cameron

It was a challenging photo shoot

kat1

Taken at the wrong time of day with very weird/bright light

kat12

The place we were going to go closed early for a wedding, so we ended up in a not-perfect park to start with

kat18

but Katlyn?  She is beautiful

kat3

and Cameron?  Loves his wife

kat5

and this baby?  There is so much excitement surrounding him

kat15

and her belly?  It is tiny. (she is nine months pregnant and wearing her normal jeans.)

kat7

I am looking forward to meeting Kyson when he is born!

kat2

(what do you think about my first maternity shoot?)

The game of the day…

The kids I took pictures of last Friday were awesome:
fox5
Daphne thought digging rocks out of the bricks (and putting them in her mouth, of course) was the best game
fox10
she wasn’t quite as sure about this game, however:
fox12

Her big brother thought sticking a flower in her hair would be a good game:
fox13
until the 2 oldest got distracted racing up and down the train tracks:
fox14
my favorite part was watching them interact.  Siblings are the best:
fox15
(this was a test-the-lighting shot that has ended up one of my favorites)

(I took a million more, and turned down a free ticket to a nascar race on Sunday because all I want to do is stay home and edit them.  PSE is the kind of computer "game" I am all into right now!)

I hearby declare it opposites day!

I don’t do pink.

ever.

I own one pink shirt, that I don’t actually wear. Because (you know) it is pink.

The only pink thing I love is those deep magenta pink flowers… and my camera refuses to take that color.  Won’t capture it at all.  So… today i am declaring opposites day. Because the one thing opposite pink is blue.  And I had fun with blue this week…

Meet Caden:

He was my first experience taking pictures of a toddler, and I am not overly happy with the results… note to self: faster shutter speed. Oh well, they are cute and I will improve!

And the other touch of blue this week:

Ricki is having a boy!
